The Fellowship of the Ring Study Guide - Crew Review

Disclaimer: I received this complimentary product through the Homeschool Review Crew.

For this review, I received a PDF digital download of the Lordof the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring Study Guide from Progeny Press. This interactive study guide is written for grade levels 9-12. With the interactive file, students have the capability of entering their answers directly on the computer and saving their work in progress. The interactive file does not automatically grade the student’s work, the teacher still grades their work right from the computer, and can leave comments or notes within the file. You may also print off the study guide, purchase of the study guide entitles an individual teacher to reproduce pages for use in the classroom or homeschool. Multiple teachers may not reproduce pages from the same study guide. I print these study guides so the pages are easily available as we work through the chapters.

Like all Progeny Press study guides, the Fellowship of the Ring Study Guide includes:

·         A concise synopsis of the book.

·         Information about the author.

·         Ideas for pre-reading activities.

·         Literary analysis and terminology questions to give students a good understanding of writing technique and how to use it.

·         Critical analysis questions designed to help student consider and analyze the intellectual, moral, and spiritual issues in the literature and weigh them with reference to Scripture.

·         A complete answer key.

Our family has been using Progeny Press literature study guides for years. As we work through each study guide, we read the selected chapters and then we complete one section each day, as we thoroughly study each aspect of the story. What I love most about Progeny Press literature study guides is the “Digging Deeper” section. After reading a portion in the book, we now see what God’s Word has to say about the topic or subject matter. I highly recommend Progeny Press because we’re able to study literature from a Christian perspective!

The Fellowship of the Ring is the first volume in J.R.R. Tolkien's epic adventure tale, The Lord of the Rings. In ancient times the Rings of Power were crafted by the Elven-smiths, and Sauron, the Dark Lord, forged the One Ring, filling it with his own power so that he could rule all others. But the One Ring was taken from him, and though he sought it throughout Middle-earth, it remained lost to him. After many ages it fell into the hands of Bilbo Baggins, as told in The Hobbit. In a sleepy village in the Shire, young Frodo Baggins finds himself faced with an immense task, as his elderly cousin Bilbo entrusts the Ring to his care. Frodo must leave his home and make a perilous journey across Middle-earth to the Cracks of Doom, there to destroy the Ring and foil the Dark Lord in his evil purpose.
