Sessions at the Summer Summit

I would like to invite you to attend our annual Summer Summit on July 31, 2021. For six years, our homeschool conventions have been a blessing to new homeschoolers, seasoned homeschoolers, and those who are just thinking about homeschooling. No matter where you are in your homeschool journey, you belong at the Summer Summit!

The four sessions of the Summer Summit are empowerment, enrichment, entertainment, and encouragement – the ingredients for a happy homeschool mom.

Empowerment – Three mini sessions to empower the homeschool mom. The session, Homeschooling in Texas will help you understand the requirements to homeschool in Texas, and provide you with curriculum considerations to meet those requirements. The session, Tailoring Curriculum to Learning Styles will help you understand learning styles, and provide you with the tools you need to tailor your child’s curriculum to their learning style. The session, Joy in the Journey will help you understand the sources of stress that steal our joy, and provide you with Biblical principles to show you how you can stress less and experience joy in the journey.

Enrichment – A luncheon will be served with chicken salad sandwich, baked potato soup, chocolate chip cookie, and iced tea. If you need a gluten-free luncheon, you can request one during registration.

Entertainment – Survey says this is the highlight of the Summer Summit! A fun time with games and prizes to entertain the homeschool mom!

Encouragement – Do you have homeschooling or homemaking questions? Our Q&A Panel will encourage you with some needed wisdom from having “been there and done that.”

These are the four sessions at the Summer Summit; but there’s more! The vendors in our Summit Shoppe offer homeschool products and services to help you on your homeschool journey.  And every attendee goes home with a tote filled with materials and resources.

REGISTER by July 1, 2021 to attend the Summer Summit for $30 Early Bird Registration and join moms like you to celebrate the homeschool journey together!

Five Reasons to Attend the Summer Summit

If you are a new homeschool mom or a veteran homeschool mom living in Southeast Texas, I would like to share with you five reasons why I attend the Summer Summit and I invite you to join me on August 1, 2020 at Midway Baptist Church located at 4512 Ellis Drive, Kountze, TX 77625.

Summit Sessions – The four sessions of the Summer Summit are empowerment, enrichment, entertainment, and encouragement. During the empowerment session, there will be three talks – Choosing Curriculum the FAMILY Way, Organizing the School Room, and Homeschooling When It’s Hard. During the enrichment session, a luncheon will be served with chicken salad on mixed greens, baked potato soup, fruit cup, and iced tea. During the entertainment session, moms will have the opportunity to play a game and win prizes. During the encouragement session, our Q&A Panel will encourage us with some much needed wisdom from “having been there and done that.”

Summit Shoppe – I love shopping convention specials in the Summit Shoppe! Attendees will find many homeschool vendors – Apologia, Beautiful Feet Books, BJU Press, Easy Grammar, Memoria Press, Notgrass Company, Usborne Books, and more!

Take-Home-Tote – Each mom in attendance receives a take-home-tote filled with homeschool materials and resources to help and encourage the homeschool mom. Many companies and publishers have contributed to these totes (with more convention specials) – Abeka, Beautiful Feet Books, Christian Liberty Press, Easy Grammar, IEW, Lamplighter, Lee Products, Majesty Music, My Father’s World, Notgrass Company, Practical Homeschooling, Progeny Press, Teaching Textbooks, and more!

Door Prizes – Our door prize table is always a hit and a huge blessing! The past couple years, each mom in attendance went home with a door prize! Many have donated a door prize for free advertisement in the program – Apologia, Beautiful Feet Books, Easy Grammar, IEW, Notgrass, SchoolhouseTeachers.com, Majesty Music, and more!

Mom Time – As any mom can attest, we tend to get so focused on others that we neglect ourselves; and that’s not good for anyone. We need to be with other homeschool moms – for that occasional grown-up conversation.

Summer Summit

You are invited to attend the Summer Summit on August 3, 2019 at Midway Baptist Church, 4512 Ellis Drive, Kountze, TX 77625. The four sessions of the Summer Summit are faith, friendships, food, and fun. These four f's are the ingredients for a happy homeschool mom.

09:00 Check-In & Summit Shoppe
10:00 FAITH
11:30 FRIENDSHIPS
12:00 FOOD & Summit Shoppe
01:00 FUN
02:00 Door Prizes & Summit Shoppe

FAITH - A short time of reviewing what God has to say about issues closest to a mother's heart can do wonders to fill up an exhausted mom. Two mini-sessions are planned just for you. Susan Reed will share "The Balance Between Homeschooling and Homemaking" and then Kayla Buckner will share "Plan, Prep, Prosper".

FRIENDSHIPS - Friendships strengthen us to be better wives and mothers. As any mom can attest, we tend to get so focused on others that we neglect ourselves; and that's not good for anyone. We need to be with other homeschool moms - for that occasional grown-up conversation. A time to encourage one another and learn from each other's challenges. During this session, your questions will set in motion the "gift of gab".

FOOD - There's something about a get-together with food that nourishes a mother's heart as well as her body. A luncheon will be served with chicken salad on crossaint, potato soup, cookie, and iced tea.

FUN - Fun is the final, and in my opinion the most important session. Proverbs 17:22 says, "a merry heart doeth good like medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones." The Bible seems to suggest that laughter is a good antidote for the blues. Therefore, fun is a critical component for a successful Summer Summit.

SUMMIT SHOPPE - Do you have curriculum for sell? Do you have a home-based business? Display and sell as a vendor in our Summit Shoppe! Cost is only $20 for a table and booth space.

Attendees can expect to find a room filled with deals on curriculum and resources. The publishers and companies listed below can be found in the Summit Shoppe. This list will expand as more vendors register.

  • BJU Press offering convention discounts again: 25% off all products, 50% off of 6 or more distance learning classes (with books), and of course, free shipping!
  • Chalk Couture
  • Tupperware
  • Apologia

DOOR PRIZES - Our door prize table is always a hit and huge blessing! If you would like to donate a door prize for FREE advertisement in the program, please contact Susan Reed at susanmreed22@gmail.com.

TAKE HOME TOTES - Each mom in attendance will receive a take-home-tote! If you would like to donate a promotional item or product for the totes, please contact Susan Reed at susanmreed22@gmail.com.

We would like to thank the many publishers and companies for donating a promotional item or product - BJU Press, IEW, Progeny Press, Memoria Press, My Father's World, Tabbies, Sub Zero, Glue Dots, Notgrass History, Christian Liberty Press, Practical Homeschooling, Teaching Textbooks, Beautiful Feet Books, and Lee Products Coampany!

CHILDCARE - Childcare will be provided; but children must bring a sack lunch. Please tell us ages in the "comment" section during checkout, so we will be prepared with activities. Cost is only $5 for each family.

Register by July 27, 2019 to attend the Summer Summit and join moms like you to celebrate the homeschool journey together! Registration includes summit shoppe, luncheon, participation in all sessions, door prizes, and a take-home-tote filled with materials and resources to help and encourage the homeschool mom.
