Bible Memory App - Crew Review

Disclaimer: I Received this complimentary product through the Homeschool Review Crew.

Are you looking for a tool to help you or your student memorize Bible verses? Then, I highly recommend the Bible Memory App – Bible Memory Pro from BibleMemory.com. You can download the Bible Memory App from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).

After you create an account, simply enter the Book, Bible Version, and Verses into the Verse Importer.

Then, import the verse text, and save.

Now you are ready to work through each of the three phases. Phase one shows the complete Bible verse with its reference. Simply tap the first letter of each word and each word will be highlighted.

Now that your familiar with the verse, try to memorize it. Phase two omits words from the Bible verse with its reference. Simply tap the first letter of each word and you will see each word highlighted, including those missing words.

Now it’s time to master the memory verse. Phase three does not display any words, nor the reference. You must remember the Bible verse and tap the first letter of each word and each word will be highlighted.

After each attempt, the Bible Memory App will give you a percentage and show you how well you did. If you’re still struggling, try again, until you have mastered the memory verse. If you need a break, you can always stop and come back, as the Verse Collection lists all imported Bible verses.

Many times, we can quote a Bible verse and not recall its reference. This App helps you to learn not only the verse, but also the reference. I have talked about this App on many occasions with family and friends, who have now purchased the PRO version for themselves; but I have also shared this App with my Sunday School class because the free version has helped my K-5 students memorize their weekly Bible verses. The PRO version is available in ESV, NIV, NASB, and CBS. The free version is KJV (which is what we use at church and in our home).

In all my years of writing for the Homeschool Review Crew, this is my first App review. One that has helped me hide God’s Word in my heart (with Bible reference) and it has helped me encourage others to memorize God’s Word. Heart Smart Unit Study

The heart is a powerful muscle which expands and contracts to pump blood to every part of the body. Everyone has a pear-shaped heart about the size of a closed fist. The heart is located in the middle of the chest, just behind the breastbone. The heart is divided into two chambers. The left chamber, which is larger, pumps blood to the entire body. The right chamber, which is smaller, pumps blood only to the lungs. Each of these chambers is divided into two smaller chambers. The upper chambers are called auricles and the lower chambers are called ventricles. Blood vessels, called arteries carry the blood away from the heart. They expand and contract with the heart as the blood is pumped through the body. From the arteries, the blood flows into capillaries, which are tiny tubes throughout the body. The capillaries are then joined with tiny tubes called veins which unite with larger veins in the body to return the blood to the heart. This starts the blood flow all over again.

Heart Healthy Activities

Math – When the heart pumps, the veins stretch slightly causing a pulse. Instruct students to find their own pulse by pressing their middle fingers against the inside of their wrists or under the jaw on the neck. How many times did your heart beat in 20 seconds? Multiply this number by three to find out how many times your heart beats in a minute.

Science – There are many risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Learn what is means to have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or diabetes; and explore ways to control it.

Health – With your students, make a list of heart healthy foods. Stress the importance of eating a low-fat diet and encourage students to look at the fat grams on their favorite snack – chips or chocolate – and discuss how unhealthy these foods are for a healthy heart.

History – National Wear Red Day is held every year on the first Friday in February. Heart disease is one of the most complicated health challenges in the United States. People are encouraged to wear red to raise awareness of heart disease. With your students, look back in history and discover the date this National Wear Red Day occurred, who inspired the day, and what caused them to raise awareness. Encourage students to wear red on February 4, 2022 to raise awareness of heart disease.

Physical Education – Exercise makes the heart work faster and harder. It also helps your heart become stronger and more efficient. There are many things you can do to keep your heart healthy – dance, soccer, basketball, baseball, tennis, football, etc. Encourage students to participate in a Heart Walk or Cycle Nation. Both events, whether walking or cycling, raise money for the American Heart Association.

Cain and Abel

Show Power Point presentation as you read through the story of Cain and Abel from Genesis 4:1-16.

Slide 2 – And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.  Slide 3 – And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. Slide 4 – And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD. Slide 5 – And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: Slide 6 – But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. Slide 7 – And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him. Slide 8 – And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper? And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground. Slide 9 – And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand; When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth. And Cain said unto the LORD, My punishment is greater than I can bear. Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me. Slide 10 – And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him. And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.

OBJECT LESSON

Fill half a glass with water. This glass represents the heart of Abel. Put a teaspoon of baking soda in the glass. Notice there is no reaction because Abel did not react when the Lord accepted his offering.

Fill half a glass with white vinegar. This glass represents the heart of Cain. Put a teaspoon of baking soda in the glass. Notice the reaction because Cain reacted when the Lord accepted Abel’s offering. Just as the water bubbles, jealousy can bubble into anger. This anger caused Cain to kill his brother.

Bible Notebooking for February

Notebooking is the coined term for what one may refer to as educational journaling. Essentially, the idea is to create a compilation of what has been learned in any subject and organize it in a notebook. Bible Notebooking helps one pause and really process the Word of God. Throughout the month of February, write the daily Bible verse in your notebook, color code the verse to help you study the Scripture in contexts, and then write how the verse is applicable to your life.

Day 1 – Deuteronomy 6:5

Day 2 – Psalms 119:97

Day 3 – Proverbs 17:17

Day 4 – Ecclesiastes 3:8

Day 5 – Matthew 5:43-44

Day 6 – Matthew 22:37-39

Day 7 – Luke 6:27

Day 8 – John 3:16

Day 9 – John 13:35

Day 10 – John 15:12-13

Day 11 – Romans 5:8

Day 12 – Romans 12:9-10

Day 13 – First Corinthians 13:4-7

Day 14 – First Corinthians 13:13

Day 15 – Second Corinthians 9:7

Day 16 – Galatians 5:13-14

Day 17 – Galatians 5:22-23

Day 18 – Ephesians 5:2

Day 19 – First Timothy 6:10

Day 20 – Hebrews 13:1

Day 21 – First John 2:15

Day 22 – First John 3:18

Day 23 – First John 4:7-8

Day 24 – First John 4:10

Day 25 – First John 4:11

Day 26 – First John 4:12

Day 27 – First John 4:18-19

Day 28 – First John 4:21

Notice the focus for February is love. As you study these Bible verses and create a Bible Notebook, I pray that you will work on your writing skills (complete thoughts with full sentences that make paragraphs) and that you will work on your critical thinking skills (how are you affected by what you have read). Bible Notebooking is a great way for you to record observations and thoughts about what you have learned from the Bible reading that day.
