Get Wisdom

Proverbs 4:5-7 reads "get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding."

It is one thing to be educated. It is quite another thing to have wisdom. As life goes on I really can see why Solomon asked God for wisdom more than anything else he could have asked for.

Why is wisdom worth more than anything else one could desire? Why does Proverbs tell us that whatever we do, we should get wisdom? It is because wisdom yields benefits that go far beyond material comfort and convenience. Look at these passages in Proverbs and see why wisdom is to be desired for the blessings it brings.

Proverbs 4:5 - "Get wisdom, get understanding..."
Proverbs 8:7 - "For my mouth shall speak truth..."
Proverbs 8:12 - "I wisdom dwell with prudence..."
Proverbs 8:18 - "Riches and honour are with me..."

If we are going to "get wisdom", we are going to have to seek it. We need to spend more time in God's Word and apply His Word to our lives. In closing, let us remember Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."
